Mâkhi Xenakis

Born in Paris, where she lives and works. She spends her time sculpting, drawing and writing.
She studied architecture with Paul Virilio and designed sets and costumes for the theater, notably with Claude Regy. In 1987, she was awarded a scholarship to the Villa Médicis hors les murs in New York, where she had a decisive encounter with Louise Bourgeois.
Her work has been exhibited or can be found in public and private collections such as: Center Georges Pompidou, Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, Manufacture des Gobelins, Domaine de Chaumont sur Loire, Domaine de Kergéhennec, FNAC, Musée des Beaux-arts de Besançon, Musée des Beaux-arts de Arras, Musée de l’Hospice Saint Roch-Issoudun, Fondation Datris, Orlando Museum of Art, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Maison Rouge, Collection RAJA-Art contemporain, Hôtel d’Agar Cavaillon…
Her books are published by Actes Sud.
In 2018, Mâkhi Xenakis became the owner of the moral rights to her father’s work. She is also president of the “Les Amis de Xenakis” association, whose mission is to promote, preserve and disseminate the intellectual heritage of the work and thought of Iannis Xenakis.
